I am mostly shocked that she would wear something like that
But I have the exact same body type as her and I know how devestating it is to gain weight only between your hips and knees and nowhere else. And gain it very easily too. Her weight probably jo-jos and that will do that to yout thighs

Very light skin, no tan, photos taken in full sun. Even a two year old would have cellulite. And HELLOOOOO all women have it, not all of them go to the surgeon though. It is so stupid that these actresses have to be judged for the way they look instead of the way they act. In Europe it is not like that at all….Keep in mind that this year Oscar winning artists were mostly european….Maybe in the US you are really focusing on the wrong thing…..

people get cellulite when they often lose weaight and then gain. you should be aboust the same weight all your life and if you wanna lose weight you should do it long time.
By Oksana on Mar 28, 2008 | Reply
wow how people can say she is pretty she is so ugly. but it is good it means ugly girls can marry too.
By Granger on Mar 28, 2008 | Reply
I’m surprised she has that much cellulite at such a young age. Like #2 (Frida), I gain weight in the thigh/hip area first, but I only started seeing cellulite in my late 20s, and more so after I had kids.
As some have already noted, having cellulite doesn’t mean you’re fat. Even thin women have cellulite. I’m 5′4″, 115 lbs, run three times a week and weight train at least twice a week, and STILL have cellulite. The more I exercise and the less fat I eat, the less “obvious” it is, but it’s still there.
Anyway, all of that is just to say that Mischa seems too young to be sooooo dimply, but I don’t think she’s a fitness buff either, so maybe she just hasn’t figured out how much work she has to do to slim her thighs. And how much harder it will be the older she gets!!!!
By Stella on Mar 28, 2008 | Reply
Maybe she’s dressed like that because she’s going to the gym. I mean why else would she be wearing running shorts and and a sweatshirt? She went to lunch like that?
Cellulite is an unfortunate condition, but although exercise and diet will not eliminate it, it does make cellulite less noticeable.
By nadja on Mar 28, 2008 | Reply

I agree that she doesn’t work out.
Cellulite is genetic and I would know… But working out DOES help. She needs to tone up and get some muscle especially in the front of her legs… As young as she is, this isn’t going to get better on its own. Only worse.
And weight fluctuation will cause some loose skin which DOES make the cellulite more visable… But unlike what the last poster said, its not the cause of it.
The cause of cellulite is the way your fat cells hold onto water, combined with genetic traits like overall muscle vs. Fat composition combined with skin types (primarily those with thin skin show more cellulite than those with very thick skin will often not show any at all).
Contrary to what people say, all women have cellulite below the skin… Some just do not show it.
Cellulite is fat and regardless of your genetic makeup, the less fat percentage you have, the less cellulite you will have.
Bottom line to my rambling is girl needs to get to the gym!!
By toni on Mar 28, 2008 | Reply
I’m not surprised. Alot of skinny girls have cellulite. They think they don’t have to exercise or do weights because they’re already skinny. But they have no muscle tone or shape. Unlike normal healthy weight girls who look alot better than this skinny, wobbly girl. If she looks like that now in her early 20s, imagine what she’ll look like in her 30s!! DO SOME SQUATS MISSY

That’s almost phase II cellulite, really.
Women can be skinny, and think can eat whatever they want but not really because fat doesn’t discriminate and it likes to stay in vulnerable areas like tights, so Misha better start eating low fat or fat free and of course run a lot because she would look disgusting in a few years.

That is called genetics. I practice martial arts religiously and, even in my 20’s, was ripped with about 15 percent BMI…very slim…and I still had cellulite in my legs. It’s genetics.

By Mouse on Mar 28, 2008 | Reply
Holy crap. I too was expecting someone much older. She’s far far too young to have cellulite. Unless cellulite just runs in her family, she really has to pick up some activity, anything. Even if it’s just walking.
Those are the legs of either an overweight person (which she isn’t) or someone who sits all day.

I know she’s a pear-shaped woman, but that picture (the third one on this page) looks glaringly Photoshopped. You can see the jagged edges from the selection/enlargement tools. Compare that pic to the last pic, and you can see the difference in her legs. Yeah, she’s still got a bit of cellulite, but nothing like what that other pic tries to depict.

GENETICS! try this: i model… and im 5′8″ do lots of pilates, yoga and run, im a vegetarian and majorly watch what i eat! i weigh 103 pounds and the doctors desperately want me to gain about 20 pounds (30 to be “healthy”) …anyways, i have cellulite! and ive always been thin. ITS GENETICS OKAY!? so everyone trashing about it, go find out what cellulite actually is and where it comes from and be glad you were blessed with little or no cellulite - but im sure you have something unfortunate about yourself like a bad face, personality, stretch marks, love handles, gut or saddle bags*smirks*
By Indoor Cat on Mar 28, 2008 | Reply
Cellulite is genetic. There are fat women who don’t have it and skinny women who do. I’ve had it since I was 16, even though I was skinny. You can control it with diet and exercise, but you can’t ever get rid of it completely.
By kiki on Mar 28, 2008 | Reply
She looks horrible here. We all have a little under butt cellulite no matter how hard we try. Having front thigh cellulite just means you have little to no definition.
She also looks washed out and horrific in these clothing ensemble..She should hit the gym and dye her hair back to dirty blonde.

She’s really, really young to have that much cellulite. Let’s face it..people may be more genetically predisposed to having cellulite, but this much on such a young girl is the result of bad diet and lack of exercise in addition to genetics.

There are ways to beat genetics like previous posters state, like taking in less fat, exercising, and toning up….but I find the easiest way to give the illusion of shrinking is to darken the skintone. I’m not saying she needs to bake under the sun, even a good fake tan would improve the cellulite appearance a LOT.

Those thighs hsve to be at least a little shopped, because they are totally normal in size thus there is no logical reason why there is cellulite on the FRONT of the thighs. Everyone has a little cellulite at the back of the thighs and the butt, but that’s just strange for someone like her.
But in the last pic her legs don’t look half bad to me.

By KM on Mar 28, 2008 | Reply
You can get rid of cellulite, it isn’t ALL genetics. Weight lifting, cardio, and a good diet is all it takes. I know from experience. Also Pamela, BMI isn’t a percentage. Do you mean 15% body fat? Either way, I refuse to believe you had cellulite if, in fact, either of those things are true b/c they are very low and unhealthy numbers for women. Mischa is skinny-fat and needs to do a real workout and not some pilates or power walking or some crap. Get a trainer!

I’m not sure if this is real - HOW could she go out in public like that if it was? She does own a mirror, doesn’t she? She has definitely gained a lot of weight since her OC days… she was so skinny back then that I think people just think of her as skinny, even though she’s not anymore.

I’m not going to brag but I have a pretty kick-ass body. Get compliments on it a lot but I work out pretty hard core - 7 days/week and am a pretty healthy eater. BUT for the life of me I can’t wear shorts. The difference between me and Mischa is that I DON’T wear shorts. I have no cellulite on the backs of my legs, butt, or even the tops of the front of my thighs but above my knees I have cellulite. I feel her pain and thank God that someone else has this issue. Go Mischa!

seems to me like these photos were taken in very bright natural light… and so i doubt they were photoshopped… i would guess it just looks worse b/c the lighting is really harsh. no big deal… just bad angles and bad lighting.
i do feel sorry for her. i, too have cellulite on the backs of my legs above the knee. it just sort of appeared there last year (i’m turning 28 this year) and was quite a shock! i started running eveyday after i found it (5-10 miles a day) and it has improved the look of the area by building muscle and lifting my legs a bit… but i know it’s still there.
i sort of admire her for just wearing what she wants and not caring. i wish i was that brave. when i think about some of the skirts i wore last summer before the noticed the cellulite i want to die. i could kill my boyfriend for not telling me.

There’s a difference between ordinary, run-of-the-mill, skinny chick cellulite on the backs of your thighs or your butt and BAAAD cellulite on the fronts of your legs or on your arms. You can definitely reduce the appearance of cellulite even if you’re genetically prone to it. Every woman in my whole family has cellulite, but I don’t because I work out a lot and do strength training. Cellulite is just fat, so if you lose fat, you usually reduce the dimpliness of the cellulite. Building up the muscles under the layer of fat helps a lot too…it smoothes the fat out and makes for a smoother look.

i get a good chuckle at the girls who say they do pilates and yoga and they still have cellulite.
if you have a genetic disposition to cellulite, the ONLY thing that helps (as far as exercise) is WEIGHT TRAINING.
pilates works your core, not your legs, and yoga is just good for over-all health but is not a strength training workout… which i’m sure someone tells people helps with cellulite, but it doesn’t. thats why you still have it.
im not being mean, just trying to be helpful… you’ve been sold on the whole gimic of “you can just do yoga and be in great shape”… its just not true. yoga can compliment a workout but it cant replace good muscle strength, especially not where reducing the appearance of cellulite is concerned.
i will tell you what happened to misha is sad. she gained a lot of weight and didnt put on any muscle… thats spells disaster. been there myself…
she is drop dead gorgeous tho, im sure she’ll come through this. i agree the lighting is really, really harsh… its probably not really all that bad, if she had a trainer this wouldnt even be noticeable.

to the people who are judging that women with cellulite need weight training, well, then why wouldn’t women who never set foot in a gym and weight train all have cellulite? for some individuals, myself included, cellulite does NOT respond to weight training, and only seems to exasperate the situation by building up the muscle under the adipose tissue and making cellulite appear worse!
40- 60 mile bike rides help keep my front cellulite under control, while yoga, callanetics, barr method have all worked to give me slender tone looking legs without making them bulky. i weigh 115 and am 5′8″, eat clean, but have all the factors that contribute to cellulite, such as a mother that has it, long torso short legs, type O- blood type, european. it is genetic! no amount of running or weight training will get rid of it. if you think otherwise, you’re one of the lucky people who isn’t plauged by it. don’t assume women with cellulite need a trainer; i’ve had plenty of trainers and it didn’t make one bit of difference.

i dont really like her legs but i think that the good thing is that she is showing her legs and dont feel ashamed. a lot of girls can say to themselves OK if Mischa can why not me…..she is famous and i am not so why not…..well you might not agree with me but you know what? i dont care…..
By Lucy on Mar 29, 2008 | Reply
She should be ashamed of her ugly cellulite legs-I dont think, its photoshopped, its real.
Why this face expression in the last pic? Whining about her cellulite? You need weight training, Mischa.
By FW on Mar 29, 2008 | Reply
shocking - i don’t know what’s more shocking - the incredible cellulite on a woman so young - the hideous 1980 outfit from shirt to shoes (where do you even find something like that in 2008?)- or the fact she’s wearing this hideous outfit to La Scala
By bella on Mar 29, 2008 | Reply
she has ugly legs…too flabby and white…she really needs gym and tan…
By Holli on Mar 29, 2008 | Reply
Jeez people! Mischa Barton is stunning - with or without cellulite. The majority of women will have it, whether they’re skinny or not. It’s a fact of life. Just because she’s a celebrity doesn’t make it a crime that she has it! She’s a human too!
What’s with the “too young for cellutlite” about too? There is no age that a person is meant to have it!!
The comments about her figure are just insulting - the girl is no way near fat, and always looks amazing in everything she wears (maybe this outfit wasn’t such a good choice - but who looks great 24/7) I’m pretty sure none of us do.
By angela on Mar 29, 2008 | Reply
Who cares even about the cellulite? So many of us do have it… But if your body is toned and in good shape, its less of a big deal. After all the comments back and forth… I just think that its the jello juggle look of her legs that’s gross. Not the cellulite.
By real on Mar 29, 2008 | Reply
I NEER LIKED HER, SH ESEEMS SPOILED AND NOT INTERESTING AT ALL…
By Katie on Mar 29, 2008 | Reply
I think it basically all comes down to cellulite being partially genetic, partially lifestyle. If you have particularly ‘bad’ genetics when it comes to cellulite, then even a slightly imperfect lifestyle will give you cellulite. It’s life.
I’m 17, I don’t have front or side cellulite, I have a tiny bit just under my arse and tbh I’m not all that bothered :/ I have curves and I loves them. I’d rather keep my curves and have a tiny bit of cellulite than shrink to stupid proportions and not have any.
I’m never going to wear ANYTHING short enough to show my arse off that much in public anyway haha and my boyfriend doesn’t seem to care/notice really.
By GENETICS IT IS NOT!!!!!! on Mar 29, 2008 | Reply
Stop saying it’s genetics, nature…blah, blah, blah. That’s just a poor excuse!!!!
Cellulite is not normal. Cellulite is fat that’s sitting on top of the muscle. Lose the fat, build the muscules, and bam!!!! Trust me, my mother who is in her late forties struggled with cellulite because she never excersized in her life until recently. And now she is as smooth as ever.
So if the woman near fifty can get rid of it there is no excuse why this young Michelline Tire Man-look alike can’t improve her horrible upper leg area.
Now cankles are a different story, those are forever, she WAS born with those….
By Catherine on Mar 29, 2008 | Reply
That’s bullsh*t, “genetics it is not”. I’m 22, 5′7″ and 110 lbs. I have cellulite, and have had it since I was 13 or so. I did intensive ballet through high school, and I do yoga and go to the gym now. I’ve always been a healthy eater. A person has no control over whether or not they get cellulite. If you don’t believe me, talk to a doctor. Do some research before you present your BS dogmatic ideas here.
By Renee on Mar 29, 2008 | Reply
she’s not exactly fat, just full of blubber. some cellulite is normal even for fit people & emaciated models, but THIS much isn’t, especially for her age & chosen profession. her looks in general are going downhill. she was a stunning teen, but now she’s more pretty-to-average looking. but maybe the workout clothes mean she’s trying to take care of herself in her post-DUI life.
By angela on Mar 29, 2008 | Reply
dont get upset Catherine… I have genetic cellulite, too. And I’m sure her mother was able to get rid of it because she had it due to a sedetary lifestyle… But my own mother is extremely active and can not. It’s my own motivation to keep going to the gym because I don’t want mine to end up as bad as Mischa’s, which is exactly how I’d look if I didn’t go to the gym, and how they DID look before I started going.
At least with muscle in there, the cellulite is noticeable in EXTREMELY harsh lighting.
By angela on Mar 29, 2008 | Reply
PS… I am not discounting that she has cellulite but I do know for a fact these photos came from the UK Daily Mail website and they are FAMOUS for making cellebrities look really bad. Remember what they did to Posh’s legs and Madonnas arm and made it look like they had some flesh eating disease?
I know Mischa has cellulite but to me the first picture looks photoshopped, and I know because I use photoshop every day. Why else would the grain in the photo be different on her legs than it is on her shorts? If you look you can see digital grain in the shorts and her legs look cellulitey but also weirdly blurred. There’s been something done here.
By Elaine on Mar 29, 2008 | Reply

By betterthanyou on Mar 29, 2008 | Reply
I am actually kind of shocked because she looks like she is much bigger…she is actually skinny but her legs look awful cellulite or not. She is my height so I sympathize with her!
By Heather on Mar 29, 2008 | Reply
She looks just fine…normal. Beautiful face! Great shape over all. She’s never claimed to be athletic, so i guess she’s just as fit. The cellulite really doesn’t subtract from her beauty.

I bet all you ladies don’t have a drop of cellulite on your body.
Cellulite has nothing to do with “getting fat”.
She’s probably always had a little. It’s amazing what photoshop can do for a person.

anniej….retro 70s shop shorts?? Those are Puma athletic shorts, lol. I like the blue and orange.
anyways…Mischa Barton has odd shaped legs, this is true. But remember how cute she looked on the OC? I think they’re definitely fixable if she would just go running more often, she’s only 22 years old so her body might snap back into fitness. As for the cellulite….who cares…ya’ll know you have it too.

when she was crazy skinny…she got bashed for not eating
now the girl is healthy..she gets bashed for eating too much
you people are messed up suckers of a media that has told you every star needs to be thesame ideal sad thing is you suckers actually work hard to achieve thesame crap, like individuality and the fact we all have different genes/body shape account for nothing
all i have to say to those claiming mischa need to work out more or eat less…your all FOOLS, JUST PLAIN FOOLS
find a happy meduim in your lives and leave others who finally moved on from wanting to be as skinny as possible bloody well alone

I have to weigh in again here. To those girls who are saying stuff like “I’m 5′10″ and I weight 100 lb and I STILL have cellulite” my answer is “DUH, it isn’t genetics, it is that you have NO MUSCLE” When you have some muscle under that fat, then get back to me. To get muscle you have to weight train. To get rid of fat you have to do cardio. Add a good diet and then the cellulite will go. This isn’t magic. It’s science, something many of you don’t get. We are all made of the same stuff. It might be harder for you to loose fat, but you can still do it.
By lydia on Mar 31, 2008 | Reply
you know, when other people like JLH or Lindsay Lohan gain weight they don’t look too bad because they are still shapely and represent a more normal size than, say, kate bosworth.
but mischa looks gross & unhealthy, and only “normal” if you’re picking her to represent the millions that are out-of-shape. her figure is caused by laziness, inactivity, & cellulite. only 1 of those is genetic.
By hmmmm on Mar 31, 2008 | Reply
she and lindsay lohan have boxy, icky legs. she shouldn’t wear something so unflattering. but how many more resources could she have to fix this? she’s rich for god’s sake. no sympathy here.
By lydia on Mar 31, 2008 | Reply
um, where is this considered “normal”? she’d be considered unfortunate (esp for a pretty girl of her age) where i’m from. her post-weight gain shape: small ankles highlight her shapeless calves, wide knees, dimpled thighs, and the hips of someone downright big-boned
get thee to an elliptical!

she’s not fat, but she’s really gained a lot of weight since she was on the OC. You can see it in her face as well as legs.
By Your all so superficial!! on Apr 1, 2008 | Reply
I’m a grad student, studying body image and the effects these kinds of websites have on people. I have suffered for many years with both bulimia and anorexia so I know first hand how damaging both these images and your comments can be. How on earth you guys can say that Mischa Barton is fat is beyond recognition. Ask yourselves one thing, are you all as thin as nicole richie or as pretty as Catherine Zeta Jones, it’s probable that the answer to that question is no. You look at these sites as a sort of escapism from the real world, where you can judge and mocj in order to defer the real thing that is on your mind and that is the way you look. You live now in a society (america) in which obesity is now the norm yet you have the audacity to comment on a 21 year old girl who has hardly reached adulthood. There is only one word for you guys and that is pathetic. Your thesis is that just because a celebrity may have money they must conform to a double size zero image, so why is that guys? Can you honestly answer than question? Why do people have to conform to this hypocrisy? Why is being skinny more beautiful?

Silly people!
Lots of people get cellulite at a young age! I am 20 and have had cellulite since I was about 13. I have religiously been a size 6-8 during this time, do a lot of aerobic excercise and generally eat healthily! I wish it wasn’t, but it is genetic…Even if I lose weight and go down to a BMI of 18 it doesn’t go away!
By cami(finland) on Apr 11, 2008 | Reply

She was ridiculed a while back for being super skinny (her OC days) Dane Cook made fun of her to her face and asked her to eat a sandwich! Now she’s getting ridiculed for gaining weight. This poor girl can’t win!
